pumpkin carving: take one

I say take one, because we only carved one pumpkin and we're going to carve more. We would have waited a little closer to Halloween so the jack-o-lantern is fresh for the night, but John wanted pumpkin seeds, so we did one a little earlier.

Scarlette didnt like the pumpkin "guts"

she preferred eating the pumpkin

john's contribution to the pumpkin carving

the finished product. i'm going to the the jack-o-lantern later... this time i wanted the stars. i've always wanted to do one like this, but never did.

yeah, that's an awesome pumpkin. love it. i still haven't bought any to carve yet, i'm trying to convince ben that a trip to the pumpkin patch is a fun family activity. no such luck as of yet. the people that live across from us have had a jack-o-lantern sitting on the porch for over a week already. i've watched it slowly wilt in on itself. it looks pretty grotesque. every time we leave the house, maggie runs over to it and laughs at it and says, "look at that funny pinecone, mom!" that's what she calls pumpkins. pinecones.
