We went to Oak Glen over the weekend. We picked apples and enjoyed the beautiful cool(er) weather. FINALLY!

Mason loved picking apples!! He would go to a tree, pick his apple and start eating it.  

We had so much fun! We love going to Oak Glen every year!

a saturday...

There's something about a white picket fence that makes pictures seem so picturesque. Add in a tutu and a balloon and you have adorable pictures! Then to top it off you have a little fun in photoshop and you end up with these...








We went to Claremont's 28th Annual Village Venture [it's like a big street fair.] And Scarlette wore a halloween costume. It was lots of fun. We got yummy food [my favorite was the roasted candied pecans & almonds. yum!] , saw lots of neat things, heard fun music. Scarlette wanted to look at one vendors art collection and while we were looking around my mom basically said that the artist drew like a 2 yr old. I think he heard, and I don't think he liked that comment. We left very quickly. But in my mom's defense Scarlette's drawings and his had quite a but in common.

The best thing we saw was the drum made from a propane tank. It was an amazing sound. Watch this..



Cool huh?

the great big pumpkin.

When I was in 6th grade we had a Halloween carnival at my elementary school and there was a great, big pumpkin! We had to guess the weight and the winner got to take it home. Well, I thought I would guess 105 but my mom said "Why don't you guess 106". I didn't listen and I guessed 105. Well it turned out to be 106 lbs! Two other people guessed 105 so they drew a name to pick the winner. I won, but if I had just listened to my mother I wouldn't have risked losing my great, big pumpkin. Anyways, I thought about this when we went to Trader Joe's and saw their great, big pumpkin. My mom and I guessed the weight. We each did different weights, so we will see if we win!

puddle jumping...

RAIN

Pumpkin Picking

we went with some friends to a pumpkin patch over the weekend. scarlette got to go in a boucer, slide down a big slide and feed goats! :) it was alot of fun. she picked out a pumpkin and kept calling it a baby because it was smaller than the other daddy pumpkins. it was a fun day! :)

pumpkin & apple picking

Yesterday the family all jumped in the car and headed up to Oak Glen to pick apples and pumpkins. Going to Oak Glen is one of our favorite fall activites. We get apples, fresh cider, & pumpkins. Oak Glen is a little further in the mountains so it has the crisp fall feel in the air. This year I wanted to go pick our own apples and pumpkins, normally we just get the pre-picked bags. So I found a place online called Riley's Farms. We got there and got our bag and picked ourselves a bag of Jonathan Apples.

Then it was time for picking our pumpkin... this is where I was pretty disappointed. We walked around the berry vines and there was the "pumpkin patch" , a small corn field with pre cut pumpkins laying in rows.

I was expecting a huge field with pumpkins still on the vine, waiting for us to choose them and cut them off and take them home. These pumpkins were beautiful though, so we picked one out and went on our way. Then we met up with Erin and Cliff and went to Parrish Ranch and got some different kinds of apples, cider, caramel apples and a few small pumpkins.
(once again, not liking the pumpkins)


I knew of another pumpkin patch close by that you could pick your own, so we made one more stop and went and got our pumpkins from the vine just like I imagined.

We got lots of pumpkins here. And alot of really cool looking ones. We got wierd shaped pumpkins, green & orange pumpkins and green & white striped pumpkins. It was such a fun day! I can't wait to carve them tonight. :)
