Lemon Festival
For about 10 years I lived in Claremont and never went next door to Upland's Lemon Festival. This year we finally went. It was a lot of fun! Scarlette loved going on the rides. She was expecting it to be really boring. She even told me so on the way there, but when she found out there would be rides she decided it would actually be really fun.

weekend at newport
We got to spend the weekend at the Newport Coast Villas with my parents.
We had such a good time! We went swimming in the rain, walked on the beach, enjoyed Ruby's Shake Shack & had lots of fun with our family.

Mason had his first time swimming in the pool and his first beach trip. I decided he definitely has my genes for the beach. His first time putting his toes in the water he laughed. He ran around playing in the sand, eating it and flipping it everywhere. Total opposite of Scarlette's first beach trip. Even now Scarlette still doesn't really like the water and kept asking me to get her a wipe for the sand on her hands. Maybe we can work on that this summer. :)

UNO!
Scarlette got UNO for Christmas. We finally got it out and had a family game night. 4 games later and she beat us every time!!! Not even with us helping her out. We called it a night. The next day she wanted to play again, so we all sat down and sure enough she won again within just a few minutes! So far she is undefeated in UNO. John & I are getting kinda ashamed that a 5 year old is beating us!

halloween
We had a lot of pre-Halloween fun this year. We carved pumpkins. S still won't touch the guts and of course is too young to use the cutting tools so she pretty much just tells us what she wants carved. :)

We went to Oak Glen to pick apples. While up there the weather couldn't seem to make up its mind. It would go from hot to cold in a matter of minutes. Very strange. But we had fun trying all different kinds of apples and getting lots to bring home.

For Halloween we fell down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. We dressed up like Alice, The Queen of Hearts & the Mad Hatter. S loved being Alice and wanted to wear her costume as much as she could. When we went out Trick or Treating after 10-15 houses she decided she had enough candy and we called it a night. I was a little bummed. I was looking forward to more treats. :)

You can't really tell in the picture, but my red lipstick is in the shape of a heart on my lips. That was my favorite part of my costume. :)

reunion & oregon trip. aka picture overload.
Here are some more pictures from our reunion and the rest of our trip.

We also spent a couple days at the beach, which included a trip to a glass blowing studio and a tour of the Tillamook Cheese Factory. It was a lot of fun and the ice cream was so yummy!

helicopter ride: check.
At our family reunion my cousin had the genius idea of having his friend, the helicopter pilot, come out to my grandma's farm to take us on rides. It was a hit. The kids LOVED watching the helicopter land in the field and had even more fun taking rides. S and I rode together and it was amazing. The whole ride she just kept saying "wow....wow!" I was probably saying the same thing. It gave me a whole new perspective on the Oregon countryside. It was breathtaking. I was in such awe I forgot to snap pictures until my ride was just about over. I don't have the pictures taken of S and I getting situated inside, but as soon as I do I will update. :)

splish splash.
Thursday we went to Erin's house and went to the "lagoon". It's a neat little pool by her house that has a beach & water slides. It's pretty much my new favorite place to take S. We had a blast!

easter weekend.
I know I'm kinda late in getting my Easter posts up. oh well. here goes..
Saturday we got up nice & early to go to the city egg hunt. S was supposed to be in the 0-3 group but they were having everyone line up so they could HAND us a bag of candy... lame! My little girl wanted to hunt eggs! not get handouts! So we snuck her in the 4-6 yr olds and let her go crazy. She did really good. She ran right out, set down her basket and started grabbing candy with both hands! It was a fun day.
can you find her in the chaos?
